Who we are

What information is collected, and why
- Contact form: the details you enter (your name, email address and message) are used only to reply to you. Messages are delivered to us by email and are not stored on the website.
- Spam protection: comment forms use a captcha service provided by GoDaddy (GoDaddy WP Security). It sets a short-lived cookie (
cp_challenge) and may process your IP address and device data to check that you are not a bot. - Comments: if you comment, we collect your name, email address, website (optional), comment text, IP address and browser details. Comments are checked for spam by Akismet (Automattic). A hashed version of your email address may be sent to Gravatar (Automattic) to display your avatar.
- Email subscriptions: you can opt in to email notifications of follow-up comments or new posts (Jetpack Subscriptions, Automattic). These emails are used only for those notifications. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in each email.
- Analytics: the site uses Jetpack Stats (Automattic) and Google Analytics (Google tag, via Site Kit by Google) to understand visits. To learn how Google uses information from sites that use its services, see https://policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites. Google Analytics is used only as set out in the cookie banner and the Cookies section below. Google Analytics, Jetpack Stats and GoDaddy’s traffic measurement are set up to run only after you accept statistics cookies in the cookie banner. Our host GoDaddy measures site traffic and page performance using its own script, which sets the GoDaddy cookies listed below and sends visit data to GoDaddy. Analytics data is kept by Google, Automattic and GoDaddy under their own retention settings and policies.
- Likes and sharing: Jetpack Likes connect to Automattic. The share buttons link to Facebook and X. If you use them, those services’ own policies apply.
- Fonts: pages load fonts from Google Fonts, which receives your IP address when a page loads. This is separate from Google Analytics and does not depend on your cookie choice.
- Hosting and delivery: this site runs on WordPress, hosted by GoDaddy, is served through Cloudflare, and uses Jetpack (Automattic) features. These services may process technical data such as IP addresses, browser details and usage statistics. GoDaddy may process technical data, including for security and, if you accept statistics cookies, traffic measurement.

We configure our cookie banner to block statistics cookies and scripts until you accept them. If you notice a statistics cookie set before you made a choice, please tell us at mail@ankkitgrover.com so we can fix it.
Jetpack features such as comments or subscriptions may set cookies only if you use them.
You can change or withdraw your cookie choice at any time using the “Manage consent” button shown on each page.
Consent and withdrawal
You give consent by submitting the contact form, posting a comment, ticking a subscription box, or accepting analytics cookies in the cookie banner. Jetpack Stats (Automattic) is also set up to run only after you accept statistics cookies in the cookie banner. It counts visits in aggregate and does not set cookies for visitors.
You can withdraw consent at any time by unsubscribing, by using the “Manage consent” button shown on each page, or by contacting us through https://ankkitgrover.com/contact/. Withdrawal does not affect processing that took place before it. If you withdraw consent, Google Analytics stops running on this site. Cookies it already set may stay in your browser until they expire or you delete them in your browser settings; they are not used while consent is withdrawn.
Your rights (including under India’s Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023)
You may ask for a summary of your personal data, and ask us to correct, complete, update or erase it. You may also nominate another person to exercise these rights in the event of your death or incapacity. Please use https://ankkitgrover.com/contact/.

Security
We use reasonable measures provided by our hosting, Cloudflare and WordPress security tools to protect data. No method is completely secure.
Retention
Contact messages are kept for up to 3 months. Comments are kept while they are published. Subscription data is kept until you unsubscribe.
Transfers outside India
Service providers such as Google (Analytics and Fonts), Automattic, GoDaddy and Cloudflare may process data outside India.
Children
This website is intended for adults (18 and over). It contains general knowledge and information about books, and no adult content. We have no way to verify the age of visitors and do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 18. If you believe a child has sent us personal data, please contact us at mail@ankkitgrover.com and we will delete it.
